Analysis
The first step in the web site positioning cycle is Positioning
Analysis. The goal of a positioning analysis project is to provide
the client with a clear understanding of their site's current
search engine/directory position, how competitive the market
place is, and what steps can be taken to improve the site's
position.
To achieve these results Keane Information Services, LLC utilizes
a procedure similar to the following:
- Determine a list of "basic keyword phrases" from
the current site content, marketing materials, and client
interview.
- Run a basic keyword phrase report to determine
current position relative to competition and identify competitive
sites.
- Examine competitive sites that are positioned well
to determine the use of keyword phrases and optimization
techniques.
- Perform an analysis of the client's site for keyword
usage and optimization status.
- Develop optimization plans including an improved
keyword phrase list for use on the site and subsequent reports.
- Present findings including current status, level
of optimization among competitors, and options for improving
website position along with associated cost estimates.
